Design Competition : TaiChung Gateway Park, Taiwan

The design strategy of Taichung Gateway Park seeks to transform this former Taichung Airport into the new “ living room ” of Taiwan, composed of culture, innovation, biodiversity, and entertainment venues. One of the key elements for the plan is to give each of the districts its own distinct quarter within Taichung Gateway City. Furthermore, the green ribbon has been created to connect the park from the north to the south that strengthens the idea of a common mission, and shared territory.
This expansive green space is also designed as a sustainable new active park which can become a model for ecologically restorative development in the region. Areas surrounding the park will take advantage of lake breezes for natural ventilation, and generous parks and plazas encourage the use of outdoor space. Taichung Gateway Park is the heart of Taichung Gateway City, a significant destination for visitors to experience the rich cultural history and natural beauty.
